The course is intended to develop communicative and intercultural competences that include the development of the vocabulary and the use of the language during listening, reading comprehension, speaking and writing activities at the elementary level (A1.2).

After completing the course you will be able to:

  • introduce and consistently describe yourself and your environment,
  • read and comprehend simple texts, such as dialogues, advertisements, e-mails, postcards, questionnaires,
  • understand short adapted audio and video recordings, instructions, phrases, and words used in everyday situations,
  • use simple words and phrases to discuss everyday topics, express your feelings or impressions,
  • ask and answer simple questions on important topics, respond to the other person,
  • use simple phrases to describe yourself, complete a simple questionnaire, write a short message,
  • use grammatical and lexical structures.

We will discuss following topics:

  • introducing yourself and another person,
  • accommodation and home environment,
  • description of objects,
  • studies, work and professional environment,
  • leisure and hobbies,
  • autonomous regions of Spain,
  • clothes, appearance and shopping,
  • body parts and health.

Grammar topics covered in the course:

  • nouns and adjectives: gender and number,
  • numerals,
  • adverbs of place,
  • prepositions (a, de, en, por, para),
  • presente de indicativo: regular and irregular verbs,
  • positive imperatives: regular verbs,
  • use of the verbs GUSTAR and DOLER,
  • preterito indefinido: regular verbs.

  • 7 weeks

  • 80 academic hours (3 ECTS)

  • Individuals seeking to improve Spanish language skills

Prerequisites for entering the course

  • Spanish A1.1 level

Acknowledgement of acquired competencies

  • A1.2 language certificate (with positive evaluation after final exam)
