The course is intended to develop communicative and intercultural competences that include the development of the vocabulary and the use of the language during listening, reading comprehension, speaking and writing activities at the elementary level (A1.1).

Register

After completing the course you will be able to:

  • pronounce English words correctly,
  • form declarative and interrogative sentences,
  • briefly introduce yourself,
  • read and comprehend simple texts, such as informative notes, brochures, signboards, menus,
  • comprehend short adapted audio and video recordings, phrases and words used in everyday situations,
  • give and ask for necessary information,
  • start and maintain a conversation, ask questions,
  • write down the provided information in a simple language,
  • use grammatical and lexical structures.

We will discuss following topics:

  • greeting and saying goodbye,
  • Introducing yourself and meeting other people,
  • parts of the day, days of the week, years,
  • leisure and hobbies,
  • family and everyday life,
  • professions and jobs,
  • food and traditional dishes.

Grammar topics covered in the course:

  • alphabet: vowels and consonants,
  • word order in sentences,
  • nouns: gender and number,
  • articles: definite, indefinite, zero article,
  • questions: general and special, negatives don’t / doesn’t,
  • personal, possessive pronouns,
  • modal verbs: can, could,
  • present tense of verbs.

  • 80 academic hours (3 ECTS)

Acknowledgement of acquired competencies

  • A1.1 level language certificate (with positive evaluation after final exam)
